Noel Meade has enjoyed a really good Christmas with four winners on the board already over the last 48 hours highlighted by the victory of School Boy Hours in the €200,000 Paddy Power Chase.

However, Beacon Edge provided one of the lower points as he will miss tomorrow’s Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown due to a bout of colic.

Meade said yesterday, “He has a touch of colic and we couldn’t declare him.

“He went for a walk this morning and seems to have recovered well. He came out of it quick enough once the vet treated him.

“I’m still thinking about the three-mile (Brown Advisory) Novice Chase in Cheltenham and he could run at the Dublin Racing Festival.

“He’s has a couple of runs and it’s not the end of the world that he’s missed Christmas.”

A Grade 2 winner over hurdles, the Gigginstown-owned gelding finished strongly to land the Grade 1 BARONERACING.COM Drinmore Novice Chase on just his second run over fences at Fairyhouse last month.

Beacon Edge is currently a 10/1 chance with Paddy Power and Betfair for the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, with Bravemansgame the 4/1 favourite.
