After his earlier win on Golddragon Reef Shane Foley remarked in a television interview that he was sweet on the chance of Barrington Court (7/4) in the Bellewstown Maiden for older horses.
How right he was as, once switched out from behind rivals over a furlong from home, the Mastercraftsman mare picked up well to race seven lengths clear of 5/4 favourite Dewcup
A winner of a Listed mares’ bumper and a dual-winner over hurdles, this was a good start to Flat racing for Jessica Harrington’s charge.
“We went slow and they didn't pick up in the straight, said Foley.
“I was following Rachael (Blackmore, on favourite Dewcup) and she went nowhere when she came off the bridle. It didn't ride that strong of a race.
“My one picked up well, they died in front of her but she's done it well. She has good hurdles form.
“I just had to wait for a gap but as I said they were going nowhere in front of me really.
“She had the hurdle rating there.
"Ted Walsh's (Dewcup) probably ran a bit below-par being honest. I followed it and it never really picked up.
"In fairness my filly picked up well. Her jumping sometimes could be a bit better, looking at her, she seems to lose ground, and I think she enjoyed no hurdles there for a change. She floated around and picked up well.”
