Baresi bashes bookies at Clonmel Baresi battled gamely to land a gamble in the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle at Clonmel. The winner had attracted support at 25/1 this morning and the plunge really took hold on course as he was punted from 9/1 into 4/1 favourite. Rob Jones hit the front at the third last on the Milan gelding but he looked in trouble as Credit Box headed him going to the penultimate flight. John Long's charge knuckled down to his task well, however, and fought his way back to lead on the run-in and record a gutsy neck success. Adare handler Long was saddling his first winner for almost four years and he disappeared with his charge from the parade ring afterwards. Gary Carson & Alan Magee
