Tom Doyle completed a 20/1 double on the afternoon, following the earlier victory of Farrells Fancy when Barel Of Laughs made a successful debut over fences in the Blue & Gold Beginners Chase.
Nicely supported in the market from 8/1 into 6/1, the five-year-old gelding travelled sweetly to lead two out, and a fine jump at the last sealed the issue as he went on to beat Mighty Snazy (9/2) by a length and three quarters. Black Mac (10/1) was a further four and a half lengths away in third, while the front-running Celtic Wish (11/4-9/4fav) weakened after two out to finish fourth.
Winning trainer Jim Culloty said, “Peter and Trish Andrews are part-owners of this horse, and I rode for them for about 15 years when I was with Henrietta Knight. This is the second horse they've had with me, and they have another one in the yard.
“They love chasers and he's a real chasing type. They are good, patient owners, and we skipped bumpers intentionally although unfortunately he didn't win over hurdles.”
