Keith Donoghue, successful on Ceanndana earlier, completed a double when Bardenstown Lad (6/1) outstayed rivals in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

A big-priced winner over hurdles at this venue on his previous start in May, the Black Sam Bellamy gelding looked booked for second when Charlie Luciano went past him after the second-last but that rival emptied on the the run to the last over which Donoghue's mount was back in front.

From there the nine-year-old kept on well to beat Stuzzikini by five and a half lengths.

“We thought he got his confidence up winning here the last day and I did fancy him today. He jumped well," said Donoghue after his 17th winner of the campaign.

“He got a little bit cold at halfway, but he warmed into it again and he stayed well.

“I’m not sure where he will go now, maybe the 2m6f handicap hurdle in Galway on the Saturday.”
