She’s Complete was all the rage for the opener at Limerick, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden, but she had to play second fiddle to the impressive David Wachman trained winner Back To Base
The aforementioned Tommy Stack trained bay was available at 9/4 in a place this morning but that price was quickly snapped up, and she was backed from 4/6 to 1/2 on-course.
The winner was sent to post the joint second favourite at 9/1 with Darkan after she opened at 7/1 this morning and at 10/1 on-course.
Ridden by Fran Berry, the victorious chestnut daughter of Lope De Vega was settled behind the leaders in fifth as Darkan attempted to make all.
She travelled smoothly into third under two furlongs out and she then improved to dispute the lead with the 'jolly' from the furlong pole.
Berry never had to get serious aboard the JP McManus owned winner, and she was pushed out close home to score in comfortable fashion by a length and a quarter.
She’s Complete was second under Wayne Lordan for Tommy Stack, while Akeed Misk ran on to take third, a further three and a half lengths back under Fergal Lynch for Paul Deegan at 14/1.
David Wachman said afterwards: "She's a nice filly and did it well. She's professional and straight-forward. She'll run in a stakes race next."
The winner, who cost €80,000 as a yearling at Goffs, is a half-sister to Ashdown Express who won a Group Three and was placed at the highest level, while Group Two winner Hoh Buzzard is another half-sister.
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards interviewed P.D. Deegan, trainer, in relation to a report on a national newspaper that his charge Akeed Misk, was found to be in season after her previous run at Leopardstown on May 11th, despite no such report being furnished to the Stewards on the day or the office of the governing bodies thereafter, as required under the provisions of Rule 213.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that he was misquoted and had in fact not stated that this filly was found to be in season post race.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
