Ross Coakley recorded his fourth win since last Saturday as he partnered the Micheal O'Connor owned Baby Dinnis to victory in the 'Delorentos' Apprentice Handicap.
The Denis Cullen trained daughter of Clodovil (also the sire of earlier winner Ishebayorgrey sprang a 16/1 surprise on her second start in handicap company at Dundalk in April and she finished third to Koybig on her last outing again at Co Louth venue.
Back on turf this evening she was installed a 5/1 chance last night but opened on-course at 9's before going off at 8/1.
Settled towards rear she was eighth turning into the straight before making smooth headway to challenge on the outer with under two furlongs to race.
She was ridden to go in pursuit of the leader from the furlong pole and hit the front inside the final 100 yards, keeping on well to score by a length.
The well-supported Firecrown (returned the 11/4 favourite from 5/1 last night) had to settle for second under Gary Halpin for John Oxx.
The front duo went nine lengths clear of Adventureman who finished third at 5/1 (from 6's) under Oisin Orr for Eddie Lynam.
Denis Cullen said afterwards: "She opened up second favourite this morning but I told the boys to hang fire that they'd probably get 8 or 10/1 about her so the lads had a few quid on her and did alright.
"We've spaced out her races a little bit. She is tall and lean, we just wanted to give her a chance.
"She won't be hardly campaigned this year and we will pick out another race or two for her.
"She did a good bit of work during the week, and I was quietly confident that she had improved.
"She got a bit of interference and unbalanced the last day but stayed on well. She is a progressive filly and who knows where she will end up. Hopefully she can go for a Listed race later in the year."
STEWARDS REPORT
R.P. Downey, rider of Liffey View trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was eased after the saddle had slipped in running.
