Love Is The Key defied an official rating of just 57 when opening her account at the 17th attempt in the six furlongs maiden at Fairyhouse.

However the fact that the first reserve was backed on track from 10/1 into 8's showed the lack of quality in this 18 runner event.

Gary Carroll always had the daughter of Azamour up with the pace, and she kept on well in the testing conditions to beat the staying on Res Nullius (12/1) by three quarters of a length.

The 11/4 favourite September Lily held every chance finishing a nose further back in third.

Winning trainer Michael Mulvany said, “Gary said last week that she was only starting to come to herself, and maidens are often not as good as normal at this time of the year.”
