There isn't anyone likely to quibble with Harry Rogers' assertion that "she's an amazing mare," a statement made after the County Louth handler had welcomed back Strandfield Lady from her seventh course and distance victory in the Leopardstown Club Members Handicap.
A standing dish now over ten furlongs at the Foxrock track, this was a really commendable performance by the seven-year-old daughter of Pairumani Star. Older than her four rivals, she had ten stone two pounds to shoulder on this occasion but she shrugged aside such negatives with a two length victory over Miss Forde
Sam James was following up last week's win around here on Strandfield Lady and Rogers explained concerns he'd held beforehand when saying: "I actually thought the weight might stop her – she picked up well though.
"She is in the Ulster Oaks on Saturday but we might give her a break for a while. She's been a great servant." (GC & EM)
