A 51/1 Sligo four-timer for Gordon Elliott was completed in the Sligo Supporters Annual Badge (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race by well-touted newcomer Glens Finale (6/5 into 5/6).
The Elliott winners were ridden by different jockeys, Keith Donoghue took the centre-piece on Take A Turn Davy Russell set the ball rolling on Lethal Steps whilst Jack Kennedy weighed in on Soldier At War and Jamie Codd topped it off on Glens Finale.
This fellow has it all going for him on paper, by Sholokhov, sire of Elliott's Gold Cup winner Don Cossack. He's a three parts brother too, to Cheltenham mares hurdle heroine Glens Melody - from a fantastic family all told.
Jamie Codd upstaged his friend and rival, Patrick Mullins, Glens Finale touching off Closutton hope Egality Mans (9/4 second favourite) by a neck.
“He obviously has a very good pedigree and he’s done well to tough it out there. What he’s done there today on that ground, he’s going to be a lovely horse next year when he goes jumping," said Codd.
“It’s nice to get that job done, and it’s nice to have a winner in the yard for Fiona McStay as well.”
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Emperor Of West (FR) trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount appeared to be distressed when pulling up.
