The Colin Motherway-ridden Pride Of The Braid brought up a John Kiely double in the finale at Wexford, the daughter of Kayf Tara making it a 35/1 brace for the Dungarvan handler in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race.

Bred by television racing reporter Brian Gleeson, and carrying the colours of his father Liam, the 8/1 chance was given a patient ride by Motherway who produced her in the final half mile.

The Cork disappointment from back in November, led two furlongs out and she kept on well in the final furlong to defeat Hasiteasy by two and a quarter lengths.

Kiely, earlier at the number one courtesy of Cairde Aris said: "The Gleesons are good supporters of me and they have had horses with me for twenty-five years.

"This mare always showed us a bit, she disappointed us with her first run but the ground was horrible that day. She has improved since, she will improve with the ground but she wouldn't want it firm. She did what I expected her to do from her work."

The Stewards fined Edward Stanners, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Flirtatious Annie in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.

The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the straight involving Idee Emery (FR), ridden by Mr D.Roche, Zagress ridden by Mr M.J. Lynch, and Oakfield Rose ridden by Mr L.J. McGuinness, where it appeared Zagress clipped a heal and brought down Idee Emery.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action.
