300 Euro filly bolts up in Dundalk opener Willie Martin's Mystical Past ran into a 66/1 shocker in Singapore Secret here two weeks ago, but dropping in trip to seven furlongs the Majestic Missile filly had no trouble in landing the Ladbrokes Maiden at Dundalk as the well-backed 9/4 favourite. With the 'blinds' on for the first time, Prairie Rose set a decent clip from the front, but Shane Foley always looked pretty happy in second spot aboard Mystical Past. The eleven times previously tried 59-rated performer, challenged in the final quarter mile, and she soon led and was gone beyond recall. The victorious four-year-old crossed the line five and a half lengths to the good from Cutting Corners. Martin picked up Mystical Past for 300 Euros at Goresbridge in the summer of 2013, and he said: "She's a real good filly and she has a great page. Six or seven furlongs is what she wants on her pedigree. "It's just taken time to get her right, and blinkers help her to concentrate. There's no issue with her temperament. "She loves it here and we'll bring her back for something." On his stable star, Farmleigh House, Martin remarked: "He's in good form and he'll be back this year." The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Gradatim trained by T. Stack was lame post race. (AM & EM)
