After a win on Hidden Cyclone earlier, Danny Mullins doubled his score on day one of Listowel 2016 when Kylecrue followed up his win from last year to again take the honours in the Kerry Group Handicap Chase.
Kylecrue, the 100/30 favourite, was soon in front, he made a slight mistake at the eighth but he asserted from before the second last to see off Rightdownthemiddle by four and a half lengths.
"He has been running so well over hurdles - he won this race last year and I knew he was in better form coming here today," said successful handler John Ryan.
"He's in the Kerry National on Wednesday and if he gets in he'll run. He is number 10 on the ballot though but if he gets in, I'd fancy him again. He beat Rogue Angel in this last year and he went on to win the Irish National.
"He is a smashing horse and Danny was brilliant on him."
P. Townend, rider of Akito (FR) trained by J.R. Barry, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up thereafter.
