Top-weight Dammit got up close home to prevail in the mile-and-a-half handicap at Dundalk for Luke Comer.

A 13th start proved lucky for the Bashkirov colt as he opened his account under Chris Hayes.

The 17/2 shot was produced to challenge inside the final furlong and got on top late on for a neck success over Evening Verse

Assistant trainer Jim Gorman said: "Last year he kind of knocked on the door.

"He has been placed over a mile- and-one and a mile-and-two as well.

"He got the run up the rail and he kept going. They went a good pace, the mare (Angel In The Sky) made it a good pace and it fell into his hands then.

"Good ground is his thing and it will be turf for the rest of the year. We will see where we go with that and what opportunities come up."
