Owner Bernadette Colleary won't forget the Join Fairyhouse Members Club Handicap Hurdle in a hurry as she saw her colours carried home by the first and second horses. The David Broad-trained Mystic Embarr got the better of the Eddie Cawley handled Flemenstorm
Mrs Colleary also bred the Danny Mullins-ridden Mystic Embarr, and the Kilkenny rider was completing a Fairyhouse double after an earlier success on his mother Mag's Martello Park
It was nip and tuck between Mystic Embarr and Flemenstorm from before the final hurdle but the former eventually edged it by three parts of a length.
"He's been running well enough without winning and the extra furlong today helped. He's a fun horse who can tip away in those races and maybe jump a fence in the spring," stated Broad.
"He's probably improving and the blinkers helped him as well. It's a good start to the new year."
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Patricks Park trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
