103/1 Navan treble for Foley Following on from Sounds Of Spring (Ken Condon) and Ilmig (Jessica Harrington), Shane Foley made it three on the day at Navan aboard John McConnell’s Make Good (11/2 into 9/2) in the Racing Again Sunday 8th November Handicap (DIV I). Foley is seven off Colin Keane in the duel to be champion jockey (95 v 88) and he got the Paul Newman-owned five-year-old home by no less than nine lengths from Thefaithfulindian. Victorious in the UK previously, Make Good came forward for the addition of cheek-pieces here. “He deserved that. He's been running consistently and probably the extreme stamina test over the trip and maybe the cheekpieces,” reflected McConnell. “He did it well and I'm delighted to get that winner for the owner as he's persevered with me through a lot of mess ups. I'm delighted to get something right for him. “He's a real nice tough, genuine, horse and hopefully the handicapper takes the extreme conditions into the equation. “At least we've got that job done and he's something to look forward to, maybe over hurdles as well.” T.E. Whelan, rider of Dragon Roll trained by Eamonn O'Connell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped very quickly. (GC & EM)
