Torygraph justified even money favouritism to win the Visit irishracingyearbook.com Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse today, scoring for owner Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud, trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Jack Kennedy.
The son of Mahler, beaten by some useful type five previous runs, was strongly pressed by Velvet Elvis entering the home straight but battled well to eventually see off that runner-up's challenge by 13 lengths,
Elliott wasn't present and afterwards Kennedy stated “he’s done it well and jumped great. I didn’t realise how far clear I was but he’s a lazy sort of a horse. I was just trying to keep the momentum going on him.
“He loves that ground.”
The Torygraph is a nickname for the UK national newspaper, the Telegraph, because of its support of Tory policies.
