Permission was given for Meghan Sparkle (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted on the track.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference.
The first incident occurred approaching the final furlong when Meghan Sparkle (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Hector Crouch, interfered with Penarth Pier (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Robert Havlin, who in turn interfered with the winner, Waitaki (IRE), ridden by James Sullivan.
The interference was found to be accidental as Meghan Sparkle (IRE) hung sharply left-handed into the whip carrying Penarth Pier (IRE) onto Waitaki (IRE).
The second incident occurred shortly afterwards when Waitaki (IRE) interfered with Meghan Sparkle (IRE).
The interference was found to be accidental as Waitaki had become unbalanced as a result of the previous interference and had only shifted marginally right-handed causing Crouch to take a check.
Following the race, Luke Morris reported that Moongazer (GB), unplaced, moved poorly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly, shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Hector Crouch reported that Meghan Sparkle (IRE), placed eighth, suffered interference, Ben Curtis reported that I’LL BE BRIEF, placed fourth, ran too free and hung right-handed, Robert Havlin reported that Penarth Pier (IRE), placed seventh, suffered interference and James Sullivan reported that the winner, Waitaki (IRE), hung right-handed.
