R.P. Whelan, rider of Afternoonwithsusan trained by P.F.McEnery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the starting stalls
R.P. Cleary, rider of Pak Army trained by J.R. Barry, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount raced keen during the early part of this race
The Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Hurricane Alex (GB), ridden by D. King, placed fourth and Kannoor (GB), ridden by S.T. McCullagh, placed third, where it appeared that Kannoor(GB) checked in running. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence S.T. McCullagh stated that his mount had picked up when receiving a bump from his inside. D. King stated that his mount was a long striding gelding and he was trying not to clip a heel when moving out to make his challenge. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D. King had ridden carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned D. King on this occasion. Elaine O'Farrell attended this enquiry with D. King
