Permission was given for Puffing (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Aldhaja (USA) to be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Roman Dynasty (IRE), ridden by Eoin Walsh and trained by Joseph Parr, which was tenderly handled in the home straight to finish seventh of eleven runners, beaten by 5 ¾ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race, and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities however the second post-race examination found Roman Dynasty (IRE) to be short striding in front.
The rider stated that his instructions were to drop in and allow the gelding to find its feet and to then do his best from there.
Joseph Parr stated that these were his instructions but after viewing the recordings of the race he was not satisfied with the effort given by Walsh in the closing stages and felt that the gelding could have finished closer if given a more positive ride.
Walsh was suspended for 10 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his horse was run on its merits in he had failed to ask for either real or substantial effort in the closing stages of the race.
