B.M. Coen, rider of Jon Riggens, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared as the stalls opened
Edward Lynam, trainer of Jon Riggens, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge got a fright as the stalls opened and was slowly away
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Martin Hassett, trainer following the winning performance of Harry's Hill (GB) in this race, which appeared to represent an improvement on its previous run. The trainer reported that his charge ran flat the last day for no apparent reason and he was very disappointed with the run
Having considered the report and liaised with the IHRB Handicapper, the Raceday Stewards noted its contents
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final 50 yards involving Master Matt (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, deat heated for second place, and Michaela's Boy, ridden by Jason Hart, dead heated for second place, where it appeared the two horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.P
Whelan stated that any interference occurred almost on the line and was of little consequence. Jason Hart stated that he really wasn't aware of much interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that the interference did not improve the position of either horse and was accidental in nature and took no further action.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards that have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing on or before 19th June, 2023, at least one of those runs having been on or after 1st June, 2022 (105 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
