She's a very good filly. It was a hell of a performance from a little green filly,. There's not much of her. She needed a bit of luck and it takes a good one to win from that draw. She was last out of the stalls. I like the colt a lot but he's been plagued with sore shins and blew up after two furlongs. I told the lads to help each other out and come in a straight line and track each other. That's something for Sheikh Fahad who handled yesterday's commotion very well. He took it like a man and got on a plane to come over here and make a presentation in the Champion Stakes. If anyone deserves a winner this weekend it's him. G M Lyons, trainer

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the latter stages involving Vocal Defense, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, Sunnua, ridden by J.P. Spencer, placed tenth and Lady Argentum, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned J.P.Spencer to ride with more care in future. R.P. Cleary, rider of Escondida, trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered some interference early in this race.

Should it be necessary to reduce the declared runners to that number, or to such lesser number that the Stewards may decide, runners will be reduced by the elimination of those horses which have not run.
