An enquiry was held to consider interference leaving the back straight involving Champagne Well (IRE), which was pulled up, ridden by Paddy Brennan, Torigni (FR), unplaced, ridden by Daryl Jacob, Rowland Ward (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Brian Hughes and Chapmanshype (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Page Fuller.
After interviewing the riders and viewing recordings of the incident which were limited due to the position of the interference, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any individual horse or rider.
The performance of Dargiannini (IRE), which started favourite before being pulled up, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Paul Nicholls could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance other than the jockey's report that it had made a bad mistake at the third last hurdle and had stopped quickly thereafter; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Dargiannini (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
