Permission was given for Montassib (GB), Harrow (IRE) and Billyb (FR) to all wear a red hood to the start; for ALRUFAA (FR) to go early to post and for Wanees (GB) to go early and wear a red hood to the start.
Upon leaving the stalls Fame And Acclaim (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed giving a bump to Billyb (FR), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Auditor (GB) which finished last of twelve runners beaten 11¾ lengths, was considered.
The Stewards noted the explanation given by the representative of Martyn and Freddie Meade that the colt was unsuited by the Good to Soft going and would prefer a sounder surface.

After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Gray was suspended for 1 day for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse, that was beaten a short head and could have finished sixth.
Following the race, David Allan reported that Boardman (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run approaching 2 furlongs out.
Robert Havlin reported that Al Rufaa (FR), unplaced, ran too freely.
