A query was raised to consider why Richard Hannon was running What An Angel (GB) here at Bath on going described as Good, Good to Firm in Places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Lingfield on 26 June 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that in their opinion, the ground at Lingfield was riding faster than the official description and were therefore happy for What An Angel (GB) to take its chance and run here at Bath today on the uphill finish.
The performance of Dartington (IRE), which started second-favourite and finished last of the eight runners, was considered.
It was noted that Marcus Tregoning could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance.
