Approximately one and a half furlongs out, David Probert, the rider of Vino Rosso (IRE), unplaced, struck Sugar Plum Fairy (GB), unplaced, once over the nose with the whip but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was considered to be accidental.
Following the race, David Probert reported that Vino Rosso (IRE), which finished last of the seven runners, reared as the stalls opened causing the filly to be slowly away.
