Permission was given for Letmelivemylife (GB), All Agleam (GB) and Sustained (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start, The Waiting Game (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute and Thapa VC (IRE) and Laguna Boy (IRE) to be mounted in the chute; Thapa VC (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Leaving the stalls, The Waiting Game (GB), placed fourth, jumped right-handed, carrying Laguna Boy (IRE), unplaced, off its intended line, resulting in Sovereign Knight (GB), unplaced, becoming very short of room for several strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of The Waiting Game (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line when Laguna Boy (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Marco Ghiani, interfered with Letmelivemylife (GB), unplaced, ridden by William Cox.
George Rooke, the rider of The Waiting Game (GB), placed fourth, was also present in the enquiry but it was found he was not involved in the interference.
Ghiani was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to shift slightly left-handed, causing Cox to have to take a check and become short of room on the rail.
