Permission was given for Standbackandlook (GB) and Kinetic (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Marco Ghiani, the rider of Le Rouge Chinois (DEN), drawn 7, was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Ghiani’s explanation that Le Rouge Chinois (DEN) had ducked its head on the first occasion he had attempted to remove the blind as the stalls opened and it therefore took a second attempt to remove, was noted.
Following the race, Christian Howarth reported that Manu Et Corde (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the gelding to be lame on its left-fore.
