Shortly after the start, Le Beau Garcon (GB), unplaced, edged left-handed at the same time that Frisky (GB), placed fourth, edged right-handed, causing the two runners to make contact, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Catch Cunningham (IRE), placed third, ridden by Tom Eaves, Le Beau Garcon (GB), unplaced, ridden by Shane Gray, Frisky (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Ben Curtis.

Barry McHugh, the rider of the winner, Riversway (GB) was also present in the enquiry but found to have not been involved.

After viewing a recording of the incident the Stewards found the interference to be accidental as Catch Cunningham (IRE) edged quickly left-handed at the same time that Le Beau Garcon (GB) locked on, shifting left-handed which in turn caused Frisky (GB) to be briefly tightened for room.

An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out involving Catch Cunningham (IRE), placed third, ridden by Tom Eaves, So Smart (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Owen Lewis and Mytilda (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by John Egan.

As a 7lb claiming apprentice, Lewis was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.

Eaves was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he made a misjudgement when manoeuvring right-handed when insufficiently clear, carrying Mytilda (IRE) right-handed and be checked.

Shortly after there was interference which was found to be accidental as So Smart, lugged left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider, causing further interference to Egan aboard Mytilda (IRE).

Following the race, Shane Gray reported that Le Beau Garcon (GB), unplaced, missed the break and was slowly away; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding revealed it to have an irregular heartbeat.

Mike Murphy reported that Antiphon (IRE), placed eighth, was unsuited by racing wide, having been drawn in stall 12 on this occasion.
