The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Safran Et Bleu, trained by P.M.J.Doyle, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on its left fore post race

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Norman Lee, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Shuil Na Tra, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Norman Lee reported that the horses are in better form at home and the ease in the ground may have helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given

E. Dwan, rider of Safran Et Bleu, trained by P.M.J.Doyle, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount pulled up lame after the line

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on approach to the second last hurdle with a circuit to race involving Safran Et Bleu, ridden by E. Dwan, placed fifth, and But What About Me, ridden by R.P. Geoghegan, fell, where it appeared Safran Et Bleu kicks out and swishes his tail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. E. Dwan stated that he didn't know what was going on behind him and felt that it did not contribute to his mount pulling up lame. R.P. Geoghegan stated that he was not clipping heels and would have pulled back if he thought he was doing so. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to advise R.P. Geoghegan to ride with more care in the future.
