An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving Figeac (FR), placed fourth ridden by Luke Morris, Thai Terrier (USA), placed second, ridden by Ben Curtis and London Arch (GB), placed third, ridden by Callum Shepherd.

The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placings of either Thai Terrier (USA) or London Arch (GB) as the interference was caused equally by both horses, with the distances between second and third a neck, with a further head from third to fourth.

The Stewards considered that the ground and momentum lost by Figeac (FR) in the incident equated to less than the beaten margins.

Shepherd was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed London Arch (GB) to shift left-handed for a period of time, which when teamed with Thai Terrier (USA) shifting ground, caused Morris to ease and switch right handed.

The involvement of Thai Terrier (USA) was found to be accidental as he shifted quickly right-handed away from the whip.

The winner, Autumn War (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Catterick on 17 October 2020 where the gelding finished eleventh of eleven runners, beaten by 69 lengths on Soft ground.

Ian Williams explained that Autumn War (IRE) had benefited from the sounder surface on this occasion, in addition to the application of first time cheek-pieces.

His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.

Following the race, Jimmy Quinn reported that Winfola (FR), placed seventh, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
