Upon leaving the stalls, Ballyare (GB), placed seventh, and Ventura Flame, placed fifth, came together resulting in Ballyare (GB) being badly hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Duke Of Firenze (GB), ridden by Laura Pearson and trained by David C.

Griffiths, which dwelt on leaving the stalls and was settled towards the rear of the field, before staying on strongly under a hands and heels ride in the home straight to finish fourth of nine runners, beaten 2¼ lengths.

The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Duke Of Firenze (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Pearson stated that her instructions were to jump out, settle the gelding where he was comfortable and make one run, as Duke Of Firenze (GB) races best when produced with a short and sharp finish.

Pearson explained that Duke Of Firenze (GB) was slowly away and outpaced in the early stages, before being slightly hampered at the end of the back straight when Ballyare (GB) shifted left in front of her.

Pearson added from this point she had been reluctant to improve back up the inside of Ballyare (GB), which had reassumed a position one off the fence, as she had been concerned about that runner rolling back towards the rail and crowding her mount for racing room.

She further indicated that after commencing her run from approaching the final furlong, Duke Of Firenze (GB) had stayed on pleasingly, despite having to be switched right-handed inside the final furlong when disappointed for clear running behind weakening rivals.

The representative of Griffiths confirmed that she was satisfied with the ride and that it both accorded with the instructions given, and the horses established racing pattern.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, Joe Fanning reported that Ventura Flame (IRE), placed fifth, was briefly denied a clear run approximately 1 furlong out, Hollie Doyle reported that BALYARE, placed seventh, was denied a clear run on several occasions inside the final furlong and she was unable to ride a full finish as a result of this and Rossa Ryan reported that Glenamoy Lad (GB), placed eighth, hung right-handed in the straight.
