An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from approaching the final furlong involving Assimilation (IRE), placed third, ridden by Luke Morris and Golden Force (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Ben Curtis.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Assimilation (IRE)’s placing as Golden Force (GB) had been intimidated and carried off its intended line for a considerable distance, before the gelding ultimately received a bump over the concluding stages.

Despite having suffered interference over a significant period throughout a crucial stage of the race, Golden Force (GB) had continually made ground on Assimilation (IRE) all the way to the line, before being beaten by a diminishing short head.

The Placings were revised as follows: First, De Vegas Kid (IRE), Second, Red Bond (IRE), Third, Golden Force (GB), Fourth, Assimilation (IRE).

Morris was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang persistently right-handed without sufficient or timely correction, thereby causing interference.

In assessing the penalty, Stewards gave consideration to the fact that Morris had eventually stopped riding and attempted to straighten his mount, several strides before contact was made with Golden Force (GB).

Following the race, Kieran O'Neill reported that Striding Edge (IRE), placed seventh, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
