Leaving the stalls, Samara Bay (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed at the same time as Calcutta Cup (FR), unplaced, jumped left-handed, hampering Quarantini (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the home bend involving Rommel (GB), unplaced, ridden by Tom Marquand; Study The Stars (GB), unplaced, ridden by David Egan and Calcutta Cup (FR), unplaced, ridden by David Probert.
Sean Levey, the rider of the winner, Mark of The Man (IRE); Joe Fanning, the rider of Monza City (IRE), placed second, and Hollie Doyle, the rider of Balavad (IRE), placed fourth, were also present in the enquiry and after interviewing all the riders involved and viewing recordings of the incident from the available footage, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any individual horse or rider.
Approaching the final bend, the rider of Quarantini (GB), unplaced, was forced off the heels of Samara Bay (IRE), unplaced, and as a result ran wide, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Hollie Doyle reported that Balavad (IRE), placed fourth, lugged both ways throughout.
Oisin Murphy reported that Running Back (IRE), which started second favourite and finished unplaced, hung left-handed in the home straight; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities.
