The Stewards interviewed W. McCreery, trainer, in relation to his withdrawal of Expreso Brasileiro after the time fixed for withdrawal. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that his rider had advised him having ridden in the second race that the drying ground would not suit this horse. He had brought the horse with the anticipation that the ground would ease due to forecast showers but these had not materialised. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the withdrawal of Expreso Brasileiro and took no further action. D.P. McDonogh, rider of Alfie's Word trained by Desmond McDonogh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left throughout.
