The trip was too short for him. He was behind the bridle the whole way, just struggling to hold his position. He(Hugh Horgan) said once he pulled him out wide he just locked onto it and once he met the rising ground he just went away from them. Probably two-and-a-half-miles is his optimum trip. Sure I mean four on the bounce, he is a grand little horse. He is in again on the flat on Saturday over two miles so we will see how he is. Hopefully he might take his chance again. It's great for Hugh, he gave him a great ride. He is coming in there now giving me a hand. Good solid rider so it's great. I own him myself and my mother. The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning out of the back straight involving Dads Lad, ridden by B

Hayes, placed fifth, Disco Dancer, ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed fourth, and Rauzan, ridden by H. Morgan, placed first, where it appeared Disco Dancer ran short of room momentarily. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.W. Kennedy stated that he received pressure from his outside and had to pull back. B. Hayes stated that he was coming under pressure and the incident happened behind him. H. Morgan stated that it just got tight on the point of the bend as his mount leaned slightly in on top of Disco Dancer. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted

J.W. Kennedy, rider of Disco Dancer, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got stopped coming down the hill

J. Coen, rider of Miss Fourie, trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung very badly and ran off the bend.

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (123 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
