Permission was given for Sea Legend (FR) and Clansman (GB) to both wear a red hood to post.
Having reviewed the start the Stewards were satisfied that Furzig (GB), drawn 10, anticipated the start at the same moment as the start had been effected, resulting in the gelding's nose becoming lodged in the left- hand gate.
This caused the gate not to open for a short period thereafter and for Furzig (GB) to be left detached from the field.
As this was caused by Furzig (GB)'s behaviour as the start was effected the gelding was therefore deemed to be a runner.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Tobetso (IRE) which had been reluctant to race.
Declan Carroll’s representative was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As the gelding had also been very slowly away and virtually reluctant to race at Beverley on 31 August 2024, Carroll was informed that any future similar behaviour from Tobetso (IRE) may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
