The Stewards received a request from Paul John Gilligan, trainer of Nevergurny(reserve), to substitute the nominated rider E. O'Connell, with L.P. Gilligan. The trainer stated that L.P. Gilligan had come available after his intended mount Glamorgan Duke, also trained by Paul John Gilligan was as non runner and given that L.P

Gilligan is his stable jockey, he was requesting the substitution. He said he had attempted to contact the authorities prior to the close of card but to no avail and had informed the nominated rider of his intentions, who was satisfied with this. Having considered the request, the Stewards allowed the substitution using their powers under Rule 195(vi) and took no further action

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that L.P. Gilligan, rider of Nevergurny, had weighed in at 2.4 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.P. Gilligan was in breach of Rule 231. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended L.P. Gilligan for 2 racedays

At the request of the Stewards, D.P. Maxwell, rider of Classic Concorde, trained by Andrew McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran one paced through out.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Nevergurny trained by Paul John Gilligan was found to be lame on the left fore post race.
