At the request of the Raceday Stewards, Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Onlyamatteroftime, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that it was his first time over the trip and he dropped him out to get him settled. He further added that he felt in the end his mount wasn't good enough
Mr D. Allen, rider of King Of Cong, trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left down the back straight
Mr F.D. Brickley, rider of See A Stride, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel. This was subsequently confirmed by the IHRB veterinary officer
