He just got away with the ground. I actually drove up this morning to walk it with my wife Roisin,. In fairness to Fairyhouse they do a great job watering here, up here during the summer you always get real good ground. He just wants a bit of juice because he's a very heavy-shouldered horse. He's been dropping down, it's nearly two years since he's won and it's been a frustrating year. I know we haven't had the sunshine but the ground has been relatively quick for him all year. We've been biding our time a little bit with him. He's hopefully going to start getting his ground in the next couple of weeks. There is a race for him in the Curragh on Saturday, if we get a drop of rain. It was a great ride, he went the brave man's route and thankfully Billy (Lee) came off the rail for him. He actually won here over a mile-and-a-quarter in the past so he had a bit of track form. The only reason I came here is because I know they water so well and it's really good safe ground.

He won the race last year but I think he’s 5lb higher this year. He loves that ground and coming off a fast pace. He just held on.

We actually thought the ground was drying out a bit for him as the times aren't that bad. It was the end of the season and I took a chance dropping him back to a mile thinking with it being an apprentice race they would go good and hard. He was on the ball in fairness to him. I told Annalise (Cullen) to try and get him on the front foot coming out as he's inclined to be a little bit slow away. He jumped and travelled really well. There was a race for him in Naas next weekend but he's probably not going to be qualified for that now. I think there is a 50-80 in Naas on the very last day of the season for him but he's also in the horses-in-training sale at Goffs a few days later and will probably go there. The lads have bought a yearling and are looking to move on and try to upgrade. I wouldn't like to see him go but the plan is to go to the sales.

He stayed the trip but they gave him every chance on the better ground as they went slow. It turned into a bit of a sprint but Annalise did exactly what I told her. I said 'be in no rush to hit the front'. It was probably my fault that she was a little bit too far back but he's better off coming late as he idles in front. I'm glad he just got up. The handicapper will have to drop him now as he just about won when he was 6lb well in!. The horses are in great form. Miss Myers was a touch unlucky and I would have loved to have a winner for Joe (Keeling). She probably thought she had enough done and pricked her ears. All mine want a bit of juice in the ground so they might be having a bit of a break now looking at the forecast.

He has a few little problems with his wind and we got his palate lasered after Gowran,. I didn't think he'd win as easy as that but the lasering definitely helped him. He loves that ground and is back down to a winning mark again. He's a very genuine horse. I told her to take her time. I was surprised to see him break so well because usually he's a little slow to stride, but he was tanking the whole way with her today. He maybe likes the girls as he ran well for Nikita Kane a couple of times last year. Her father (Denis) sold me Mollys Glory so I owed her a turn. I have him in at Roscommon on Monday but that's nearly a mile-and-a-half and I don't think he quite stays. I'll have a look at it. I might run him because God knows what the handicapper is going to give me now!
