Permission was given for Love So Deep (JPN) and Mehdaayih (GB) to wear a hood in the parade ring.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Mehdaayih (GB), trained by John Gosden, was found to have traces of dried blood from a puncture wound on the left-hand side of its jugular vein prior to the race.
The trainer’s representative and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Being satisfied that the filly had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Mehdaayih (GB) to run, and ordered the filly to be routine tested.
The trainer’s explanation was noted that the filly had received routine recovery treatment following its work on Saturday.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration, and Mr Gosden was ordered to forward a copy of his veterinary records to the Authority.
Wanaasah (GB), unplaced, jumped sharply right leaving the stalls crowding the winner Mehdaayih (GB), onto Grace And Danger (IRE), placed fourth, which was badly hampered and in turn inconvenienced Secret Thoughts (USA), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Silvestre De Sousa reported that Starlight Red (IRE), unplaced, stopped quickly and Trevor Whelan reported that Wanaasah (GB), unplaced, hung right.
