- Stewards Report
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding Highfield Viking (GB), trained by John Quinn, and ridden by Jason Hart, presenting at the start with a small amount of blood in its left nostril before being examined and deemed fit to race by the Veterinary Surgeon.
The Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Officer, Jason Hart, the representative of John Quinn, and the Assistant Steward were interviewed.
The Veterinary Surgeon stated that there was only a very small amount of blood in the colt’s left nostril down at the start and after wiping clean no further blood followed so was therefore satisfied Highfield Viking (GB) was fit to run.
Having heard the evidence the Stewards noted their explanations and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the colt had bled from the nose as a result of a slight abrasion in the colt’s left nostril.
