Permission was given for both Wickywickywheels (IRE) and Too Friendly (GB) to wear red hoods to post.
Approaching the final furlong, Dark Jedi (IRE), placed fifth, hung left-handed causing the rider of Hope You Can Run (IRE), unplaced, to check momentarily, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Dark Jedi (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Dark Moon Rising (IRE), ridden by Shane Gray and Fairbanks (GB), placed second, ridden by David Probert.
Gray was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed, carrying Fairbanks (GB) slightly off its intended racing line.
The winner, Dark Moon Rising (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at York on 15 May 2024 where the gelding finished fifteenth of twenty runners, beaten by 19 lengths.
Kevin Ryan’s explanation that Dark Moon Rising (IRE) had benefited from the step up in trip on this occasion from 1m 3f 188y to 1m 5f 16y, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Sean Kirrane reported that Faylaq (GB), placed third, was slowly away and Billy Loughnane reported that Maasai Mara (GB), unplaced, was slowly away.
