That is my first runner in Ireland, and the last time I was here as a jockey back in the 1980's I rode a Group 3 winner at Leopardstown called Valley Victory. I rode a lot for Mel Brittain, and he was just a very nice man and a pleasure to ride for. If he was around today he would be one of the first on the phone. This was on the agenda for a long time, and I knew he was a decent horse. He's a late maturing type just coming to hand. We wanted rain and we got it. He needs good ground or to get his toe in a bit. An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards that, at entry, have run at least twice under any Rules of Racing and are eligible for a handicap rating (105 = 9st 12lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 105 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 105 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 105 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
