He’s mentally not cooked yet and is hard work. I thought Leigh did a fantastic job on him. I told him to take his time and ride him where he’s happy and if he can’t win off 66 I don’t need him!. I thought potentially he wants seven furlongs and he did everything in his power to throw it away and still won. N.M. Crosse, rider of West Of Wichita, trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Jakajaro, ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed fourth, West Of Wichita, ridden by N.M. Crosse, unplaced and Sanshiro, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed sixth, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, N.M. Crosse stated that he was going backwards when had to take a check and confirmed that his mount had hung left which he had reported at Scales. L.T. McAteer stated that his mount shifted slightly right when going through the gap and the horse on his inner hung left at the same time causing his mount to go back to its left. C.D. Hayes stated that he got a slight bump from the rear forcing his mount to shift slightly righthanded. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied with all the explanations given and therefore they took no further action.
