we put the hood on him and he definitely settled better. The problem in Listowel was that he wouldn't settle. I know Masterchippy came down (when in contention at the third last) but he was sort of in control and then didn't do a whole lot in front. We'll keep going if the ground stays good. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Glen's Dd, ridden by D. Meyler, and trained by Garrett James Power. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. The trainer stated that he informed the rider that this filly had raced keen on the flat and consequently he was to drop her in and get her to switch off, get her jumping and to do his best but was not to knock her about. He added that the rider had carried out the instructions but felt that he could have pushed the filly with more vigour in the closing stages. D. Meyler, rider, confirmed the instructions and added that his mount jumped off very keen and had missed both the third and fourth hurdles which affected her confidence. He added that he rode her to regain her confidence but she blew up going to the third last and he gave her a chance before asking for a final effort in the closing stages by changing his hands and slapping her down the shoulder. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Glen's Dd was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations and also cautioned D. Meyler to show more determination in his efforts in the future.
