Prior to this race, Mick Appleby was asked to explain why he was running Sir Gregory (FR) at Nottingham again after having reported that the gelding was unsuited by the undulating track here at its previous run on 9 June 2022.
The trainer explained that due to a lack of suitable opportunities for Sir Gregory (FR) in the short term, he was prepared to give the gelding another chance on this track.
Following the race; Rob Hornby, reported that Helvetique (GB), unplaced, slipped badly leaving the stalls and was slowly away, Dylan Hogan, reported that Mumayaz (IRE), placed sixth, slipped leaving the stalls, Nicola Currie, reported that Bibulous (IRE), placed third, was denied a clear run for some distance approaching 1½ furlongs out and George Rooke, reported that Sir Gregory (FR), placed fourth, was briefly denied a clear run 1½ furlongs out.
