An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the half furlong marker when the winner, Overwrite (IRE), ridden by David Probert, interfered with Tempus (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Watson.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Overwrite (IRE)’s placing as Tempus (GB) had to be checked off the heels of Overwrite (IRE) and switched left-handed, before running on strongly to be beaten a diminishing head, and revised the placings as follows: First, Tempus (GB); Second, Overwrite (IRE); Third, King Carney (GB); Fourth, Kasbaan (GB).
Probert was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right-handed for several strides without correction.
