Inside the final furlong, Heart Of Soul (IRE), placed third, hung right-handed despite the efforts of its rider to correct the gelding, resulting in Mutaabeq (IRE), placed fifth, being briefly hampered and carried off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Heart Of Soul (IRE).
The winner, Tombolo (FR), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Haydock Park on 3 May 2021 where the gelding finished eighth of ten runners, beaten by 24¾ lengths.
The representative of Richard Fahey explained that Tombolo (FR) had been suited by the step back up in trip from 1 mile and 100 yards to 1 mile 2 furlongs and 70 yards on this occasion.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, John Egan reported that Merweb (IRE), unplaced, moved poorly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
