An enquiry was held to consider why Eve Johnson Houghton was running Ridgeway (FR) here at Bath on going described as Good to Soft, Soft in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Newbury on 15 August 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that she walked the course at Newbury and felt that the ground was holding and not suitable for the gelding.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Glory Dab (FR), unplaced, lost its action behind and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Eve Johnson Houghton's representative reported that Ridgeway (FR), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Soft in places on this occasion, and would prefer a firmer surface.
